History
We know the Chapel was founded in 1756 from the plaque which still exists on the outside of the Vestry stairs. Mention is made of licenced Baptist Meeting Houses in Carmarthenshire in 1749 in Kyfig (old spelling) namely 'Bwlchgwynt – Mr Richards House'. We do not know much more but the first members apparently came mainly from Moleston, Narberth Parish, Pembrokeshire and from Rhydwilym, Llandysilio Parish. Bwlchgwynt remained a branch of Moleston and Rhydwilym until 1794 when the Chapel was embodied and noted as located near Bwlchgwynt Farm in Cyffig Parish.

We believe the Vestry to be the original meeting house for the Chapel. Certainly if you look at the original photos, you can see the downstairs looks like stables, whilst the upstairs has seating all around the walls. We are informed that the visiting preacher would stable his horse in the downstairs of the Vestry and conduct meetings upstairs and the pictures certainly support this.

We know that in recent times the Vestry was used for signing of the register in marriages before falling into disrepair.

The Chapel and Vestry were acquired by the previous owners in 2007, and the Vestry was in a serious state of disrepair. Structural work started immediately in 2007. The original A frame remained which has been restored and you can see this in the upstairs room. The renovation was completed in 2012.
